Exorcist (To The End)
06:46
|
|||
What more can I do?
I took out everything I got from you
and I spread it all across the floor
and I threw it all right out the door
I could drive fifty miles away
every shadow would conceal your face
I'm not sure how much more I can take
Forever ever more my love
its like the words are written right above
my name, the time, and the date
you came and everything just blew away
but I can't wait to see you
every time you walk away
I know you're bad for me, but I stay
I NEED AN EXORCIST
I'M JUST A POSSESSION THAT'S
HAUNTED BY A GHOST THAT WOULDN'T NOTICE
IF I DROPPED DOWN DEAD
GIRL, YOUR SIGN IS EVIL
MY SKIN CRAWLS WHEN I SEE YOU
BUT I STILL WANNA BE HERE UNTIL THE END
You say I don't know how good I got it
but I don't know if what I got I wanted
all I wanted was a peaceful life
but the devil wouldn't stand by your side
you treat me like a mangy dog
but I take it and I ask for more
I keep staring at that door
and all I have to do is open it but
I can't wait to see you every time you walk away
I know you're bad for me but I stay
Girl, you're a vampire
sucking all my love and leaving me alone
so why can't I just go home?
I NEED AN EXORCIST
I'M JUST A POSSESSION THAT'S
HAUNTED BY A GHOST THAT WOULDN'T NOTICE IF I
DROPPED DOWN DEAD
GIRL, YOUR SIGN IS EVIL
SKIN CRAWLS WHEN I SEE YOU
BUT I STILL WANNA BE HERE UNTIL THE END
Oh, girl, possess me
I NEED AN EXORCIST
I'M JUST A POSSESSION THAT'S
HAUNTED BY A GHOST THAT WOULDN'T NOTICE IF I
DROPPED DOWN DEAD
GIRL, YOUR SIGN IS EVIL
SKIN CRAWLS WHEN I SEE YOU
BUT I'M GONNA STAY
TO THE END
TO THE END
TO THE END
TO THE END

The cuts on my back have stopped bleeding
but the skin all around them turned blue
and I lie on my chest at the hospital
thumbing through photos of you
Last tuesday night at the chapel
your mother broke down in my arms
and you just laid white as a polar bear
lounging and watching the stars
Sun dripped in through the window and
kissed your cheek
and I swore to God for a moment
you looked asleep
Well I drove by your house on your birthday
and I see it all happen again
the crack like a gunshot
the water rushing in
the ice on the top of your head
well I jumped in the water to save you
and I dragged you to the rocks on the shore
in the crook of my arm,
how I held you, my love
and your body, all broken and torn
O great wonders and miracles!
No! Fate said
Held by the ambulance driver
I wept.
Last night I dreamt we were back there
and you took me into your arms
and we just laid white as a polar bear
lounging and watching the stars

Sara's Song
05:01
|
|||
How could I compare your lips to such a bland a thing as wine?
How could I compare your lips to such a bland a thing as wine?
Bright as rubies, sharp as blood, and sweet as old
moonshine
How could I compare your lips to such a bland a thing as wine?
I'll have another drink to you and sit beside the fire
I said I'll have another drink to you and sit beside the fire
That doctor said, "You've had enough, you'll tear all up inside"
Well, somebody better tell that doc
I'll drink until I die
I've seen all the wings and things that fly above your head when you're
asleep at night
and there's a time and a place to doubt and fear
but not just lie right here beside the fire
and I'll sing
to you
There was a little pony drinking by the riverside
and on top that little pony only one of us could ride
so I strapped you on that pony's back
and you rode all night and you never looked back
and I just ran beside the hooves
and you laughed all night like I knew you would
I've seen all the wings and things that fly above your head when you're
asleep at night
and there's a time and a place to doubt and fear
but not just lie right here beside the fire
and I'll sing
to you
A blizzard came and swept away
our home and all our goods
and the only thing I had left
was this shack out in the woods
with a dirty, crooked fireplace
and cobwebs in the hearth
so I lit a couple twigs
and threw a match to light a fire
and the cold was harsh
and the night was black
and full of evil things
but through the dark
I felt a hand reach out
brush back my hair, and gently sing
to you, to you, to you

Hurricane Pt. 1 (Roar)
04:24
|
|||
Russel, you got someone at your window
Russel, you got someone at your door
Aren't you gonna stick it out boy
everybody's got something to solve
Kid you used to run by the ocean
picking up the rocks on the shore
boy, you were the greatest they had ever known
shot down like a stone
you used to roar like a hurricane
I wanna give you everything you need, my friend
So many roses at your door
I wanna pick you up
and carry you home
So you got a longer December
She didn't mean you no harm
So you gotta make them remember
the road to hell is paved with good intentions
now babe
you hear them calling your name?

Man on Fire
06:17
|
|||
Standing at the terminal
five million people walk right by
you're as lost as anyone else
you step aboard I see
a man on fire on TV
a blu-ray DVD is made
and we sigh with relief
as we sink down to our knees
Oh God...
If you crack your window
you will see me staring up
and I will drip through your fingers to the floor
and if you scoop me up
I will be fused together
oh, we'll be confused forever
and in the mess you light a match
Oh God...
Who arms the fools
standing so sure of the rules
when we're all just marionettes
with our strings cut loose?
Hush now baby, don't you fuss.
Yes, we all know you're an adult.
Now stand aside as we inspect your past
for bad blood.
You say your words don't hurt
but they certainly kill
and you hypocrites burn every bridge that you pass through
and you hand me a torch and a match
and I don't know what to do
oh
who arms the fools
standing so sure of the rules
when we're all just marionettes
with our strings cut loose?

Well I woke in the yard with my head curled up your arms
and I knew that everything was gonna be the way it was
And I went to the jar and I smashed it against the hood of your car
and you cheered, as the wind around us buzzed
so I walked to the sea and I waded to my knees
and I started to scream and howl
as I never done before
I said, "Sister, can you hear me? I'm as strong
as I have ever been! And the sky, I'm gonna make it
roar!"
Whoever thought a single name
could ever stop a hurricane
but sometimes its all that you got
GO RUSSEL GO!
Well I flew to the coastline
wearing nothing but my sunshine shoes
and heard "Russel's coming through on the radio!"
And I tugged on the trees and I twisted up the seas
and I screamed so loud so that
everybody knew
Whoever thought a little girl could bring me back
with nothing but her smile and a couple kind words
Well hurricanes got feelings too
and I'm not sure you know
but sometimes the strongest of us get the most hurt
GO RUSSEL GO!
I flew back home and I went right to your room
and you just smiled and said
"Oh Russel..."

Mary
06:24
|
|||
Mary
please don't walk away from me.
Mary
I said please don't walk away from me.
I got a rosary in my pocket
I'm headed straight to Galilee
Mary
please don't walk away from me
Well it started just six months ago
when we went into that church
for your older sister's marriage
and then they read that Bible verse
about the wealth and love of Lord Jesus
and his entrance to this earth
and baby, Mary you started walking away
from me
At first I thought it was just a phase
putting crosses everywhere and making sure that I prayed
for salvation each night
in the event
that I dropped down
dead.
But it started to get a little bit worse
you got some really bad gas and said you're gonna give birth
to the son of man
so we had to sleep in separate beds
and when the doctor said it was a false alarm
you spat into his face
you said the Holy Mother of God would remember and that that poor man, well he'd sealed his fate
and I just sat alone in the waiting room
with the fear of God upon my face
oh Mary
you're starting to walk away from me
I woke up to a gentle voice in the middle of the night
to see Mary hunching over me
with a plastic butter knife
well she munched down on a cricket
and said, "I'm sorry boy. But the Lord needs a sacrifice."
Oh Mary, I think you're walking away from me
Now Jesus
did I ever ask for something
did I pray for fame
did I beg for money
I said, No!
Then why'd you take her away from me
Lord, you know I 'aint gonna stand for this Lord
I said, No! No, no, no, no, no.
Losing her to another man
well that I could stand
I'm not the best looking guy
and cash aint exactly on hand
but an incorporeal deity?
Well that I just can't understand
Oh Mary
please don't walk away from me!
Now Jesus
did I ever ask for something
did I pray for fame
did I beg for money
I said, No!
I've been a good man but I aint gonna stand
while you take her away from my land
I said, No! No, no, no, no, no.
Well I woke up in the middle of the night to a gentle breeze
and I went downstairs to find the doors wide open and a note tacked to the screen
Mary said the problem was geography
she's headed off to Galilee
oh Mary
I think you're walking away

50 guns are pointed at my head
I turn around and I see
50 others
Are we doomed to live a life
alone, aloof, and dangerous where
nothing really matters?
I pulled myself out my little hole
and found myself walking down the highway
and for a moment all was still
the cars were stopped,
the people spilled out from their little bubbles
and looked out at each other
and with a sense of wonder in their eyes
they said, "Its all so beautiful."
50 guns are pointed at the ground
100 hands connect the startled crowd
and they begin to see themselves
and they hear the sound of their walls coming down
and their eyes fill up as they turn around and see
cold, wet children
Waste my time at a cheap freak show
zombie mall and a Dracula ghost
a little too easy and a little too much
turn off the telly and pack your stuff
we are not vampires
we are not alone
if a new door can open
another can close
I don't need the isolation
to protect me from the shining sun
Come on ladies, come on boys
drop your gun and grab your toys
put on suspenders, put on your momma's dress
we're going outside, you gotta look your best
and I'll hold your face in my hands
and you'll know right then
we are cold
wet
children
of the sun
